WWE didn't do too shabby in 2016's second quarter at all.

Vince McMahon and WWE Chief Strategy & Financial Officer George Barrios announced the highest quarterly revenue in company history today, as the two held a conference call to announce the results of WWE's WrestleMania-influenced second quarter. In total, company revenue increased an impressive 32%.

The WWE Network also saw huge numbers in its favour, with an average of 1.52million paid subscribers in the quarter, a number that is 25% on the second quarter of 2015. Video views are also up over 100%, with social media engagement up some 39%.

One major difference between 2015 and 16 here is that WrestleMania has been included in the second quarter this year as opposed to the first, so the spike in numbers influenced by the Show of Shows has only just come to light.

It is no real surprise either, as WrestleMania 32 was the most lucrative show in company history. The event in Dallas saw a record attendance, along with record ticket sales and a whole lot more.

Vince and Barrios also announced their forecast for Q3, which despite expected lower numbers will still be positively comparable to their 2015 equivalents.

McMahon also announced the recent brand split and SmackDown's move to a live broadcast, as well as announcing the multi-year content distribution deal in China.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
