10 Biggest Lies On Online Dating Profiles

10. If You Want To Know More, Just Ask

Perusing the site, you are bound to find many a profile that looks picked clean of anything that would grab a guy's interest. They filled it out, except gave no more information than a Google search could've turned up. Often, these same girls also have a couple pictures max, robbing hopeful suitors of one of online dating's biggest advantages, its general lack of mystery. Prior to messaging a girl, a guy can usually gleam more from her profile, and her answers to the site's never-ending wealth of questions, than he likely could from your usual first date. Whereas, with these girls, there's no way to know if deep down lies a crazy in wait. For all you know, you could end up at the bottom of a hole looking up at Buffalo Bob. They're aware of this, though, hoping that the mystery is appealing, making a game out of getting to know them, instead of unsettling. By saying so little about themselves, and forcing you to message them to learn any more, they're trapping you into messaging them, in a sense. However, it could also just be a sign of supreme laziness. Scores of girls complain about having to reach one thousand words, saying anyone who can is self-obsessed, and I wonder how serious they really are. It' s not like they're demanding a novel-length autobiography. It's probably for the best that they're not. I don't know if I could stand to read much more from some of these girls. How hard is it to capitalize words where appropriate? Make as many grammatical mistakes as you want, but at least follow the proper rules of capitalization and punctuation. Show at least a working knowledge of how the English language works. Most importantly, don't you dare say people tell you that you're mature for your age or, even worse, that you're a stickler for proper grammar and spelling when it appears you couldn't even have been bothered to run your profile through Microsoft Word's spelling and grammar check. Back to what I was saying before, if you can't be bothered to write more than a couple sentences, expect guys to return the favor with their messages. Simple enough, right?
