If there's one thing that people have a long history of doing it's thinking up new inventions to make life so much easier. Sometimes these inventions make perfect sense - for starters, where would we be without the wheel? Other times, however, and an invention comes along which leaves you scratching your head wondering how on earth did someone come up with the idea. Sometimes these inventions come from bored blokes sat tinkering in their sheds on a Sunday, trying to figure out a way to make their own lives more managable. Other inventions are carefully designed over a period of time in the research and development departments of huge corporations, often with a budget which dwarfs the amount the hobbyist inventor would earn in a lifetime. While some ideas for inventions are far too stupid to ever get past the drawing board - solar powered torches, umbrellas with skylights so the owner can see when it's finished raining and chocolate fire guards are never going to see the light of day - some ridiculous ideas, for one reason or another, actually make it into production and end up on stores for the paying public to buy.
