10 Deeply Disturbing Disneyland Urban Legends

10. The Suicides

Perhaps because it is deemed the Happiest Place On Earth, Disneyland perversely attracts tales of suicide more than almost any urban legend attached the the parks that Mickey Mouse built. The internet is positively dripping in the blood of supposedly lost souls at Disneyland, and no matter how many times rumours are rebuffed and denied, it seems that the idea is far too compelling to disappear entirely.

Some claim they've seen a body stashed on a ride, Weekend At Bernie's style, while others claim more specific stories relating to the more supernaturally soaked rides in the park - and in particular the Haunted Mansion and the Small World rides. One story relating to the latter seems to have spread the most: according to one park visitor, the ride was abruptly and unexpectedly closed in the middle of a run once in 1999: the music ceased, lights came on and the riders were swiftly ferried out of the ride without explanation, even when employees were questioned.

They were also greeted with an announcement over the loudspeakers. "Disneyland thanks you for your visit. Please evacuate the attraction in an orderly fashion. Keep looking forward and follow the directions of staff. Thank you."

Vaguely put off the scent, the riders left, but not before one tourist - who coincidentally had her camera in her hand, and happened to snap a couple of photos absent-mindedly, and promptly forgot about them. But then to her astonishment, when she developed the film, the unmistakable sight of a child hanging from the rafters could be seen.

Is There Any Truth In It? The inspiration is clear, as there are genuine stories of attempted suicide (like the employee who attempted self-immolation at the Paris park), but this is no more than a creepypasta that grew legs and spread across the net.
