10 Most Likely Ways Humanity Will Become Extinct

It's the end of the world as we know it. Do not feel fine.

It's the end of the world as we know, and you most definitely should not feel fine about it. Modern audiences seem more finely attuned to apocalyptic fiction than any other, synthesising previous generation's obsession with nuclear holocaust, another world war, and giant ants into one huge multi-limbed beast of destruction. Still, the end-of-the-world movies, TV shows and books of the day keep things at an ironic distance €“ Mad Max: Fury Road is about an Earth devastated by drought, but is mainly a feminist parable; The Maze Runner is about...well, sort of a similar thing, but spends most of its time on beautiful looking people and romance. In reality, the End Times are a lot less multi-layered, and about a hundred times more terrifying. And they're coming. Slowly but surely, they're coming. There are whole fleets of scientists speculating about when exactly humanity is due to meet its maker and, perhaps more importantly, what form the apocalypse will take. And surprisingly, the movies get it close €“ not exactly on the money, but not far off. It's just that instead of pulsing soundtracks, cool explosions and Charlize Theron, it'll likely be war, famine, pestilence, and death. The real armageddon will have little to do with the film Armageddon. Unless you choose to play Aerosmith as you step into the light... These are the ten most likely ways humanity will become extinct.
