Rap music lost two of its favourite sons just six months apart in the late '90s when Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. were shot dead just six months apart.
Tupac was the first to go, killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on 13 September 1996, and Biggie was killed in a similar fashion in LA as he left a music industry party.
Police have been unable to solve the murders, thanks in part to uncooperative witnesses, but most theories about the rappers' deaths centre on the feud between their record labels.
The rivalry between Tupac's Death Row and Biggie's Bad Boy label was intense at the time, but it's unclear whether this played a role in the shootings.
Conspiracy theorists will even tell you the pair are still alive having faked their deaths.
