10 Stupid Things Brits Think About Americans

9. Americans Are Selfish/Egotistical

All countries have a certain amount of egotism, epsecially those with an important part on the international stage. Patriotism and nationalism are only possible with the assertion that your country of residence is one of the best in the world, even if that isn't true. The difference with America is that they were at one time the most important nation in the world, and because that was true so recently they feel they can shove it down everybody else's throats. Now I know that many Americans have understood that they are less powerful and dominant on the world stage than previously, and I'm not going to deny the fact that America is still a predominant feature in most international organisation. It's not like you would get on a plane to America and they immediately say that they are better than you in every way. But, there has often been a nature of egotism surrounded by America for decades now, which has even be announced by the current (and hopefully future) US President Barack Obama. American girls are often depicted as the high school drama queens, that are vain, self-centred and spoilt rotten by their rich, stupid parents. There is a phrase in the dictionary called 'Ugly American', which is defined as an American that goes to another country and refuses to follow their culture, and follows everything by American standards. Now, I'm not saying that all Americans are that ignorant. But if there is a term in the dictionary expressing your egotism, then there must be some general consensus on its survival in America to this day. But arguably the British are even more guilty of this particular heading. Level of Brit Stupidity: 8
