15 Bizarre Jobs Working With Bugs And Beasts

Panda fluffing - it's not what you think.

When people ponder upon working with animals, their minds tend to wander to professions such as vet and zookeeper; although dog-grooming may well be enough if you've just had enough of office politics. For bug lovers, (yes there are more than you'd expect); perhaps breeding or taxidermy is your entomological utopia. But if you forage a little further there's a whole world of weird out there, and it offers roles for all skill sets and constitutions. Some of the tasks require a particularly strong stomach (or weak sense of smell), while for others it's a fertile imagination that's a must. There are even odd opportunities for people who simply want to be nice to animals - they don't usually come with a pay packet though. One of the jobs that didn't make it onto this list is the worm picker, who searches soggy land after sunset to find the best bait to can and sell. Another is a chicken sexer, the person who determines whether the newly hatched cuties are girls or boys. It's probably best not to dwell on what happens to the vast majority of the male chicks once they've been identified. What did make the list is a mixed bunch, ranging from the necessary to the purely profitable. Just don't expect to see any of these peculiar posts advertised at your local job centre.
