15 Problems Only People Who Work For A Pub Chain Will Understand

"No, we do not serve quail eggs. We've got scampi, chips and peas. And that is pretty much it"

Whether you're a waitress, a barman or one of the kitchen staff, every individual working for a pub chain needs a big slap on the back for the hours they put in and the stresses they deal with everyday on the job. Wetherspoons, All Bar One, Taylor Walker, Slug and Lettuce, Yates, Beefeaters; there are so many pub chains in the UK, each with a heap of brave employees who will understand the day to day conundrums only applicable to someone who works in one of the many restaurants and pubs. While as customers we understand the joys of being able to stroll into one of these venues hungover and order a large fry up with extra beans, a pint of beer and a pitcher of coke, working within this environment does nothing to encourage us to want to visit the pub outside of work hours. Have you seen how they cook those extra beans? Or how many times the beer lines have been cleaned in the last two months? It might not count for every pub chain, but there are certainly some that have got a worse reputation than others. Still, it's unlikely that anyone can turn down a curry and a glass of wine for a fiver on a Wednesday, so it's easier to forget about the behind the scenes stuff and just chow down. But in case you were interested? Let us take you behind closed doors into the stressful environment that is working in a pub chain venue.

I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
