As long as you have not called out something profane to them that your friend would be ok with you should be ok. It is ridiculous how often this can happen and even more annoying when the person turns out to look literally nothing like the person that you thought they were.

Or, you seriously question for moment whether or not you are a ghost. When you are with friends and you do this to someone passing by who does not see you, all of your friends will immediately think you were just making it up and did not even know the person. Life is hard.
