The first maze we walked through was The Horrors of Blumhouse, a maze based around two recent releases, Happy Death Day and The First Purge.

Having never been to Halloween Horror Nights before, I’m not going to lie, I was a little nervous as what to expect but I was told this would be the perfect warm up.

I don’t think Happy Death Day worked quite as well as The First Purge; possibly because of the repetitive nature of the film, as we kept passing through the bedroom scene over and over. The house is incredibly detailed and I did get a jump from a scare actor dressed as Tree in a hospital gown.

I got my first major scare of the event in The First Purge section. Two scare actors in army fatigues caused me to scream like a leading lady in a Wes Craven movie. Having never seen The First Purge I didn't really understand the references in the house but there were a host of creepy characters to keep me suitably on my toes.

On my second visit to HHN I decided to skip this maze. It was the perfect house to get started with, but unlike most of the others it was not one that I felt the need to repeat.
