London Olympics Ask Keith Moon To Perform But He's Been Dead 34 Years

The organisers of the London 2012 Olympics want the opening and closing ceremony to be a celebration of everything that makes Britain great. So they have roped in Blur, New Order and The Specials while Oscar winning director Danny Boyle is directing the opening ceremony.

The Sunday Times is reporting that organisers also approached The Who€™s manager Bill Curbishley to inquire about having Keith Moon play at the event, but failed to realise that Moon has been dead for 34 years.

Bill Curbishley emailed them back to tell that they have made a mistake;

"I emailed back saying Keith now resides in Golders Green crematorium, having lived up to the Who's anthemic line 'I hope I die before I get old'. If they have a round table, some glasses and candles, we might contact him."

Keith Moon died from an accidental overdose in 1978.

In another blow, they also approached The Sex Pistols to be part of the show but the band refused. Artists who perform are not paid apart from a small fee of £1 so maybe if they had stumped up as much cash as 'Country Life' butter did to secure John lydon, the answer might have been different.

The show titled 'A Symphony of British Music' will close the games on August 12th with Blur performing what is being reported to be their last ever gig.
