Skull Island: Reign Of Kong - Universal Orlando First Look!

New details & photos unleashed for the 8th wonder of the world's homecoming.

Coming to Universal's Islands of Adventure this summer, Skull Island: Reign of Kong has been growing quickly, and teasing park goers with its impressive 72ft tall walls and dominating rock work, which reportedly took 7000 man hours to build.

The first substantial glimpses of the new attraction were revealed just the other week and they certainly got us here at WhatCulture.com excited.

Now Universal have finally taken the chains off of Kong and more details on the 8th wonder of the world have been unleashed via a new press release and details uncovered by myself at a recent, exclusive media-preview event for the new attraction that took place in London.

Trust me when I say this one sounds like it's going to be epic...

In both the press release and his presentation to the media last week, Universal Creative executive producer Mike West talks passionately and excitedly about the new addition to the Orlando theme park that he clearly has high hopes for. Marvelling at the "beast" they have built, West reveals that to make the ride as large as any attraction which carries the name Kong deserves, a "new kind of ride vehicle" had to be built to transport visitors into "the heart of the story".

Intriguingly, this will come in the form of trackless ride technology, making Skull Island: Reign Of Kong the first attraction in a Universal theme park to adopt the technology.

Upon entering the queue, guests will be transported from the campsite of an early 1930's 8th Wonder Expedition Company and drawn into the mysterious jungle and temple ruins. West describes the ruins as a mixture of both small and large spaces, like a "heartbeat", building the tension as you go.

Guests will hear whispering natives as they journey through the temple ruins and won't know where things are coming from. Click "next" below for part 2 of this story...
