7 Science Buzzwords Nobody Really Understands

Science couldn't be more exciting at the moment, but sometimes it does tend to get a bit tricky to follow. With things like the Higgs Boson and String Theory hitting the headlines with increasing regularity, you could say that we're become ever more science literate, but the more we find out about these things, the more the cracks begin to show. Not everyone can have a PhD in theoretical physics after all. It's all very well for the scientists to bandy about technical terms, but no one ever seems to explain what they actually mean. Was there some kind of conference in which everyone was given a grounding in physics jargon? Perhaps we were hungover that day. Whatever it was, it's becoming more and more apparent that we need to learn how to speak Scientist, and fast. There are only so many ways you can describe the complicated world of quantum mechanics with analogies and everyday objects.
