It never rains but it pours, right?

We've all had One Of Those Days.

You know the ones. From the tiniest annoyance to the biggest c*ck up, nothing seems to go right, and it feels as though the world is punishing you for no good reason.

Well, because scientists are people too, some of them have put their time and effort into finding out exactly why the universe sometimes decides to turn against us. No stone is left unturned and no issue is too trivial in the quest to find the mechanisms behind many of life's little irritations.

The certainty that "if it can go wrong, it will go wrong" is known as Sod's Law (or Murphy's Law in the States). It is the driving force behind why you will always spill coffee on your shirt before a meeting, or receive a phonecall the very moment you step in the shower. It is a universal constant alongside gravity and magnetism.

Well, as the saying goes, knowledge is power, and with scientists and researchers picking apart the science behind the bad luck, you might yet become the master of your own fate rather than a subject to the Law of Sod.

So, no matter how wrong things go, you can blame it on science.
