People love a good horror flick, but part of the fun of it is knowing that it's all fictional, and some shapeshifting demon isn't about to crawl out of your mirror and put its hands down your throat. No, it's all good clean fun, so long as it stays in the world of the imaginary.
Well, Mother Nature couldn't have that, and so has set about endowing certain critters with super creepy powers that wouldn't be out of place in the Exorcist.
As small minded humans, it's sometimes easy to forget just how alien a lot of life on earth is. We're so used to things with a few limbs and a face, whether it's your dog, cat or dear old mum, that we overlook all that squirms, crawls, burrows and scuttles in the animal world.
Instead, we freak ourselves out with horror movies, but some of the creepiest crawlies out there wouldn't even bat an eyelid at a mind-controlling demonic possession, a shapeshifting monster, a ghostie oozing ectoplasm, or an unstoppable, self-healing foe. That's all in a day's work for Momma Nature.
