12 Awesome Things To Do In Zero Gravity

From curing disease to making space burritos, life in orbit can be a blast.

The astronauts we regularly fling out into the great unknown are diligently pushing the boundaries of human knowledge every single day and, in short, space exploration is very exciting and very important. Plus, they get to whizz around in micro-gravity and make space burritos, which is arguably just as cool. This collection of micro-gravity japes features some of the best examples of astronauts arsing around performing valuable experiments for our entertainment and delight (no, we will not be including that time Kate Upton did a zero-G photo shoot in nothing but a gold bikini. Compelling as that was). The most prolific and fascinating micro-gravity maverick is the inimitable (and weirdly sexy) Commander Chris Hadfield, who spent 166 days in space. Of course, a lot of very important work went on in those 166 days, but even the commander of the ISS gets some downtime and, during that downtime, Commander Hadfield showed us all the wonders of day to day life in orbit. We, as a species, have progressed to the point where we can leave our own home planet and fly amongst the stars. An achievement you'd think would be a cause for quiet introspection, serious scientific study and a good bit of soul searching. What did we do instead? We made stupid YouTube videos. Talk about the indomitable human spirit.
