10 Biggest Stars Of The 2014 FIFA World Cup (So Far)

Who's lit up the grandest stage in the world in the first week?

Despite it being only a week old, it feels like the 2014 FIFA World Cup has provided more excitement than the whole four weeks we spent in South Africa four years ago. Drama, excitement and controversy have plagued the event so far - and more of that would go down as nicely as a cocktail whilst sitting on the Copacabana. The cream is already starting to rise to the top, with some sensational team - and individual - performances already. Think The Netherlands, and that win against Spain that will surely forever go down as one of the great World Cup wins. Brazil too have had their moments, as have the Germans. It isn't just the big guns who have dazzled, though, with the likes of Colombia and even the United States impressing to varying degrees. On an individual front, some of the very best players in the world are yet to hit full pace, but that is to be expected, given the strikingly hot conditions in South America. Those iconic players making a slow start has opened the door for plenty of other players to step in and make their presence known on the World Cup, with some lesser-known stars grabbing the limelight under the baking sun of Brazil. With three games a day throughout the group stages, football fans are in absolute heaven during the World Cup, and some of the players have produced angelic performances to light up the event. Here are the ten standout players at Brazil 2014 so far, after the first round of group matches was completed on Tuesday.
