Chelsea, along with a number of other club's such as Liverpool and Arsenal, have been linked with a move for Bacelona striker David Villa this month. Early reports suggested that the former Valencia man was wanted on loan by the majority of his suitors, given his age and recent injury woes. This seemed like it might be a good deal - Chelsea could just write the whole thing off if it didn't work out. However,
reports later surfaced that the player was not available on loan and that the Catalans wanted £16 million for their striker. All of a sudden, this deal now seems unlikely at best. Villa is 31, has just returned from a broken leg, and has struggled for form ever since. Paying £16 million for a player with absolutely no re-sale value would be ludicrous. Source(s):
