10 Footballers Totally Wasted At Their Clubs

8. Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan)

Since 2014, Mauro Icardi has been Inter Milan’s top scorer every single season. With almost 100 league goals scored for the Italian giants, Icardi is clearly a highly talented centre forward, but he hasn’t won a single trophy with his club despite being one of the best strikers in the league.

Inter haven’t reached a cup final since Icardi started playing for them and haven’t been in with a shot of winning the Serie A for years. In short, if Icardi wants to start earning some medals, he’s just going to be wasting his own time for staying in Milan. Inter is a prestigious club with a lot of history, but it’s also a club in turmoil, a far cry from the teams currently dominating Italian football: Juventus, Napoli, and Roma (and really, just Juventus).

A stocky, speedy Argentinian with a great eye for goal, Icardi is a brilliant finisher, capable of striking the ball accurately with both feet and using his physical strength to shrug off defenders. On the international stage, Icardi has been mostly ignored, but he’s only 25 and could have a big role to play for his country in future. To make that happen, he’d be wise to seek a transfer.
