10 Key Stats Ahead Of Man Utd Vs Newcastle United

Wayne Rooney's drought has to come to an end some time...

Steve McClaren certainly did not get any sort of honeymoon period as Newcastle United head coach. Two games in and his side are already under pressure to deliver a result following an entertaining if frustrating 2-2 home draw against Southampton and then a fairly feeble 2-0 surrender away at Swansea City. Yet the Barclays Premier League fixtures do not get any easier for the Magpies - in fact, they now face two of last season's top four in their next two matches. First up, this Saturday lunchtime McClaren's men travel to Old Trafford to face Louis van Gaal's Manchester United (12.45pm kick-off). No Toon supporter needs reminding that Old Trafford has certainly not been Newcastle's happiest hunting ground down the decades, and this season's encounter is unlikely to be one Magpies fans are holding out much hope for. One boost Newcastle do have is that their latest signing Florian Thauvin completed his deal in enough time to be called upon by McClaren this weekend, if the Toon boss so wishes. Van Gaal's Man Utd have a 100% record from their opening two fixtures, and they have yet to concede a goal. Newcastle, meanwhile, may have netted twice - but they have also conceded double that number. Here, WhatCulture.com/NUFC look at 10 key stats ahead of Manchester United vs Newcastle United.
