10 Man Utd Players Who Did Nothing For Club (But Excelled For Their Country)

They became a different animal in the shirt of their country.

International weekends have become synonymous with dread now. With football supporters having become so disillusioned with international football, they view these qualifying games as annoying interruptions to the excitement and joie-de-vivre of the Premier League. This attitude seems to be seeping into the mindsets of some of the players, even from an early age now, with the likes of Raheem Sterling demonstrating an apathy to his country that would have Stanley Matthews turning over in his grave. However, there are some players who see international football as their vice - their escape from the struggles of domestic football. For their country, they are a talisman, a beacon of hope, a superstar. When they don that international jersey, they are representing their nation - there is surely no greater honour. Old Trafford has been a home to some world-class superstars over the years, but at the same time the club has acted as an employer for a host of subservient and subordinate footballers, who contributed close to nothing for the cause. Whether they simply couldn't get in the team, spent the entirety of their contract in the infirmary or just didn't fancy the Premier League, their contributions were close to zilch. For their country, however, they excelled and reached levels of excellence that some players could only aspire to reach. Take a look at the ten players who contributed nearly nothing to Manchester United but were different class for their country.
