One of the great innovations of Formula One was the switch from front-engined cars to rear-engined cars. Cooper was the first to attempt this change.

One of the teams in the inaugural Formula One Grand Prix, Cooper were a mainstay of the paddock for 19 years. It was their shift to rear-engined cars in 1959 that transitioned them from, simply, competitors to winners.

With Aussie, Jack Brabham, at the wheel, Cooper won the 1959 and 1960 Constructors' Championships, comfortably beating Ferrari twice in the process. As the other teams took Cooper's pioneering change and created more sophisticated designs, Cooper was left playing catch up. Unfortunately, a lack of a competitive engine meant they would never again be World Champions.

Constructors Championships: 2

Wins: 16
