10 Players Who Probably Regret Joining Liverpool

9. Paul Konchesky

''It was one of the toughest times, obviously. I went to Liverpool in the summer and when you move teams you think it€™s going to be a big thing for you really. It obviously didn€™t work out for different reasons.€™€™ €“ Paul Konchesky, 2011.
By his own admission, when old boss Roy Hodgson coaxed him from Europa League finalists to the lofty heights of Anfield, it was a mistake. To this day, Liverpool supporters have mentally barricaded out the tortuous six month tenure of the current England manager in the autumn of 2010, as the side found itself in the doldrums of the relegation zone after ten games. In Konchesky, they had a symbol of the Hodgson regime €“ a scapegoat. That€™s not to say that the 30 year old left back didn€™t make it hard for himself. Looking slow, tepid and unsure, no miscontrolled pass and wild shot went unpunished, with a frustrated Anfield crowd growing weary. He even received an ironic cheer from the home crowd as he was substituted in a drab home defeat to Wolves. As soon as Kenny Dalglish arrived in January 2011, the renaissance began by ousting the emblem of the Hodgson regime, with Konchesky shipped off the Nottingham Forest on loan. Leicester City acquired his services in the summer of 2011, where he has since regained his confidence and displayed the sort of mature level-headed showings that earned him a move to Liverpool in the first place.

The twice-capped England left-back only played 15 times for Liverpool, but ask any Anfield supporter, and they will tell you that it was 15 times too many.
