10 Players Sir Alex Ferguson Was Completely Wrong About

The venerable Scot isn't right ALL the time...

As Louis van Gaal prepares to take charge of his first Premier League game as manager of Manchester United next Sunday, one of Sir Alex Ferguson's biggest mistakes will be staring him right in the face. Last summer, after announcing his retirement following a glittering 26 years in charge of the club, Ferguson was allowed to hand-pick his successor in David Moyes and it didn't work out. Moyes was sacked after just 10 months and many football experts questioned the wisdom of the decision thereafter. The venerable Scot should not have been given so much influence in selecting his replacement and no other business in the world would afford such a luxury to a former employee. It may well have been a rare instance of Ferguson being wrong about something, but there have been others - particularly when it comes to former players. Down the years, the Scotsman has made a number of dubious decisions, be it signing a player and later regretting it or missing out on the opportunity of landing a future star of the game. There wasn't much Ferguson was wrong about during a near-three-decade career that saw him win virtually everything, but we have managed to put together a list of 10 players he was completely wrong about, and here they are.
