10 Premier League Transfers That Won't Happen This Summer

You can forget about any of these deals happening before deadline day.

Twice a year, we enter a fabled period of the football calendar that has recently become known as 'silly season'. It's a biannual event that takes place every summer and winter and sees newspapers and gossip rags up and down the country let loose a wild and wacky barrage of transfer gossip unabashed as the market opens up to new football signings. In layman's terms, it's otherwise known as the transfer window, and we happen to be in the clutches of one right now. This proverbial window is open until the 1st of September meaning Premier League teams have less than three weeks to get their business done before it slams shut again for another four months. During this period we've already witnessed some highly dubious tall tales claiming X is going to Y and for how much. Most of the speculation isn't grounded in fact and has been construed by some editor somewhere to ratchet up excitement ahead of the new season. And while some rumours of course have merit and even, sometimes, come to fruition, more will fall by the wayside only to be rolled out again in January. The summer window can be a truly shameless three-month period packed full of unsolicited gossip and far-fetched claims, and this one has been no exception. Already we've seen some ludicrous transfer tales and we'll put our money on seeing more still come the end of the month. But we thought we'd debunk some of the less-likely stories and cut the fact from the fiction. With that in mind, here are 10 Premier League Transfers That Won't Happen This Summer.
