10 Problems Only Newcastle United Fans Will Understand

Newcastle United: tormenting supporters since 1892.

Supporting Newcastle United is similar to riding a roller coaster; high peaks followed by unsuspected plunges and a bit of nausea thrown in for good measure. The Magpies have always been a very well supported club. The faithful Toon Army have stuck by the team through the good and the bad, without letting the empty trophy case curb their enthusiasm. There's no denying the fans of the club have an abundance of passion, but what do they get in return? Nothing but heartache and close calls. It's not all bad being a Geordie though: who can forget the 5-0 drumming we gave Manchester United in the nineties with Philippe Albert's majestic lob over Peter Schmeichel? Or more recently the Premier League's greatest ever comeback in the 4-4 draw against Arsenal with Cheick Tiote's thunderous volley to equalize in the final minutes of the game? It's days like these all fans live for. With St. James' Park being located in the city centre, it dominates the city's skyline and the emotions of its residents. After a victory there is always a carnival atmosphere throughout the Toon with every man, woman and child appearing to have a spring in their step and a big smile plastered on their face. But when it's a bad result (especially against the Mackems) every Geordie dies a little inside. Take a look at the 10 problems only Newcastle United supporters will understand and see if you can relate...
