10 Reasons The Yankees Vs Red Sox Rivalry Now Sucks

The classic feud is no longer what it once was.

There is historically no greater rivalry in all of sports than the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball. For decades, the two teams have been in constant competition with one another. This rivalry has spawned many moments that reverberate in baseball lore. Bucky Dent€™s homerun in 1978, Aaron Boone€™s homerun in 2003, and the Red Sox comeback from being down three games to come back and beat the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS on their way to winning their first World Series in 86 years. However, since that time, the rivalry hasn€™t quite had the juice it once did. This past weekend, the defending World Series Champion Red Sox faced the New York Yankees in the final series of the regular season, and for the first time in 20 years, neither team was headed to the playoffs or had anything to play for. Fans of both teams who enjoy the rivalry may be disheartened to know that they can expect the same results for the foreseeable future. For the past 10 years, the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry hasn€™t been as exciting as it was from the mid-90s to the early 00s, and here are 10 reasons why it won€™t be exciting again for quite some time.
