10 Reasons Tom Brady IS The Greatest NFL Quarterback Of All Time

10. He Was Continually Overlooked Before Playing In The NFL

To understand what makes Tom Brady the greatest Quarterback of all time, you have to go right back to the beginning of his story, even before his NFL career began. Today's Brady is very different to the Brady from his early football years. Brady didn't play in his freshman year in high school because he wasn't deemed good enough to quarterback a 0-8 team and only played after that because the Quarterback that was playing quit the team and Brady didn't look back from there. Moving on to his college career, Brady enrolled at the University of Michigan and once again, he faced competition to get any playing time. He began as a seventh string Quarterback in his freshman year and was the second string Quarterback in his sophomore season. Even when he became the starter there, he was under pressure for his place as he initially had to split time with new recruit Drew Henson but eventually beat him out and led Michigan to a Citrus Bowl win in 1999 and an Orange Bowl win in 2000. However, Brady was once again looked over, this time by NFL scouts and he was drafted in the sixth round, pick number 199 overall in 2000 by the New England Patriots. He got his break in week two of the 2001 season after starting Quarterback Drew Bledsoe suffered a serious injury and never looked back as he led the Patriots to the first of four Super Bowl wins that season.
