10 Summer Premier League Signings We Won't See The Best Of Until Next Season

9. Tiémoué Bakayoko - Chelsea

Chelsea were one of several clubs to shop at the Monaco summer sales. The Blues picked out Tiémoué Bakayoko as the player they wanted to pinch from the Ligue 1 champions.

The midfielder did not steal as many headlines as Kylian Mbappé or Thomas Lemar in Monaco’s exciting run to the Champions League semi-finals, but Antonio Conte identified his industry as what was needed to replace Nemanja Matic, who went to Manchester United.

However, the signing of Danny Drinkwater from Leicester City - a more proven performer in England, especially alongside former Foxes teammate N’Golo Kanté - suggests that Conte is not sure of Bakayoko’s ability to settle into the Premier League right away. He has the physical attributes to adapt quickly, but might need some time to improve technically.
