10 Things We Learned From UFC Fight Night 45

Cerrone vs. Miller brought the action early and often.

UFC Fight Night 45 Live Wednesday night from Atlantic City, New Jersey, UFC Night Night 45 (Cerrone vs. Miller) brought the action early and often. There were three TKO victories in four fights on the preliminary card (albeit one a leg injury), a historic first women's strawweight bout on Fight Pass, and a card made up entirely of finishes when it came time for the main portion of the show - almost unheard of in UFC-land lately! Luscas Martins opened the main card with an exciting fight against Alex White that made it all the way to the third round before a powerful punch connected with White's face, leaving him dazed and slumping towards the mat. It was a KO victory for Martins. Flyweight John Lineker decided to follow suit and scored a TKO victory in his fight against Alptekin –zkiliç, also in the third. In the third fight of the main card, Joe Proctor opted to keep things out of the third round, and after knocking down opponent Justin Salas with a counter left hook, unleashed a flurry of punches to end his fight in the second. Rick Story would pick up where Proctor left off, coming out strong, landing some hard shots, then dominating Leonardo Mafra on way to an arm triangle choke victory. From there, it was a story of the men with the best kicks in the UFC's lightweight division: Edson Barboza scored a first round TKO via a liver kick that shocked Evan Dunham despite not fully connecting followed up by a barrage of punches, and in the main event, Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone landed a number of kicks to the body before faking a punch and following up with a head kick that stunned Jim Miller and opened the door for Cerrone to storm in and unload a few punches before the ref called the action. One of the best Fight Night cards in recent memory taught us a number of lessons, so lets take a look at 10 things we learned from UFC Fight Night 45!
