10 Unbelievable Sports Stories Hollywood Should Turn Into Movies

10. The Yankee Pitchers Who Swapped Families

Pitch: Bull Durham meets The Big Swap Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich would have just been considered average pitchers in baseball history based on their big league careers, both mostly with the New York Yankees... if it wasn't for a trade between the two that had nothing to do with baseball. Peterson and Kekich often socialised together with their respective wives, Marilyn and Susanne. At some point in 1972 the couples decided they got along with each other's spouses better than their own and Kekich and Peterson switched families. Not wanting to separate the kids from their mothers, the pitchers just started living in each other's house. The players announced the arrangement shortly before the 1973 baseball season started, and it became a minor public scandal. Like many sports trades, this one worked out better for one party. Peterson and Susanne later married (and remain so today), but Kekich and Marilyn called it quits only after a few months. The reason this outrageous story lands in the last spot is that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have spoken about producing a film about this wild situation as recently as earlier this year. However, not all parties involved are willing to have their unique personal arrangement told on the big screen.
