15 Worst Ever Premier League Signings

3. Andriy Shevchenko

From: Milan To: Chelsea Fee: £30.8 million (Source: Mail Online) Andriy Shevchenko, before he joined Chelsea, was one of the best, if not the best striker in World Football. He had multiple global awards to his name, for example the 2004 Ballon D'or, and also he claims the crown of the third highest Champions league goalscorer of all time. He even captained his National team Ukraine to the FIFA World Cup Quarter Finals, for the first time in the nation's history. What an outstanding record for an outstanding player! So why, like so many other world-class foreigners, could Shevchenko simply not hack it, in the Premier League? Chelsea snapped up the striker in 2006 for a then club-record £30.8million move , in order to boost their decreasing goal tally and hopefully challenge for the Premier League Title. However, despite the great player he was, no one knows why he couldn't hack it in England. Shevchenko only managed 9 premier league goals in the three years he played at Stamford Bridge, and it's the only club he has played his football where he hasn't been able to hit the back of the net consistently. When the management of Chelsea changed hands to Philip Scolari, Scolari realised that Shevchenko was not making the desired impact, despite the colossal £30.8 million price tag, and he was soon to loan him off back to AC Milan, the club where he is the second highest goalscorer of all time with 175 goals.
