3 Head-To-Head Battles That Will Decide Man Utd Vs Newcastle United

Defensively, MUFC appear miles ahead of NUFC...

Newcastle United need to find a winning formula after failing to claim victory in either of their opening two Barclays Premier League matches of the season, and Steve McClaren would desperately love to discover it by this weekend. However, the Magpies travel to one of their unhappiest away grounds to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday (12.45pm kick-off). In their last 31 league visits to the stadium, dating all the way back to 1972, Newcastle have claimed just one victory - when Yohan Cabaye netted the only goal in a 1-0 win back in December 2013. This season is only two games old and McClaren's side are already under pressure to deliver a result following an entertaining if frustrating 2-2 home draw against Southampton and then a feeble 2-0 surrender away at Swansea City. One boost Newcastle do have is that their latest signing Florian Thauvin completed his deal in enough time to be called upon by McClaren this weekend, if the Toon boss so wishes. Key battles will take place all over the pitch at Old Trafford though, and Newcastle will have to get the better of Man Utd in all these departments if they are to stand any chance of claiming all three points this weekend. Here, WhatCulture.com/NUFC look at 3 head-to-head battles that will decide the outcome of Manchester United vs Newcastle United.
