Winning a UFC World Championship is the greatest accomplishment a professional mixed martial artist can hope to achieve. However, only a select few men and women will ever know what it's like to have Dana White wrap the gold around their waist.

For fans of the sport, watching a title change hands is as exciting as it gets and there was plenty of excitement to go around in 2018.

This past year marked the end of longtime flyweight king Demetrious Johnson's historic title reign. His loss to Henry Cejudo was among the biggest upsets in recent memory.

Perhaps the most shocking moment of the previous year was when Cris Cyborg's reign of terror finally came to an end last December. Seeing Cyborg knocked out by Amanda Nunes, in under a minute, left the entire MMA world with their jaws on the floor.

While 2018 offered some surprising title changes, it wasn't all about upsets. The year saw champions like Max Holloway and Robert Whittaker solidify their status as the top dogs in their respective divisions.

Now that 2018 is but a memory, fight fans are gearing up for what looks to be an exciting year ahead. MMA is predictably unpredictable, which makes it one of the most exciting sports in the world.

That being said, even in a sport where anything can happen, there are 6 current title holders whose destinies seem to be set in stone.

6. Going Nowhere: Featherweight (Max Holloway)

The reigning king of the men's featherweight division is Honolulu, Hawaii's Max Holloway.

After dealing with a mysterious injury early on, he closed out 2018 with an impressive TKO victory over top contender Brian Ortega.

In his most recent bout, the champ reminded MMA fans why he is considered one of the best strikers in the sport. He also showcased the type of takedown defense that will give high-level wrestlers and jiu-jitsu practitioners nightmares.

At 27 years of age, Holloway is just now entering the prime of what is already a Hall of Fame-worthy career.

Currently, there aren't many compelling contenders at featherweight. The only man in the division who Holloway hasn't faced that would warrant a title shot is Frankie Edgar.

Edgar, a former lightweight champ, is an outstanding wrestler with a solid standup game. However, he's 10 years Holloway's senior (37) and has struggled when facing top featherweight's like Jose Aldo and Brain Ortega. Edgar would likely have a difficult time getting the Hawaiian to the mat and Halloway is the far superior striker. Once he gets past Edgar, there's no-one that poses an immediate threat to his title reign.

In all likelihood, the champ will look for a super fight at lightweight at some point in 2019. As for the UFC Featherweight Championship, expect for it to remain in Holloway's possession for the foreseeable future.
