4 Main Card Predictions For Bellator 123

There's a different Friday Night Smackdown this week as Bellator and the UFC go head-to-head!

It's a head to head battle between the world's two premiere MMA promotions this Friday as Bellator 123 goes head-to-head with UFC Fight Night 50. While that might look like a squash match at first glance, it's important to get perspective. One, UFC Fight Night 50 is a Fight Pass event in North America, meaning the TV audience that would tune in in droves to see the likes of Alistair Overeem, Matt Mitrione, Joe Lauzon, Gregard Mousasi, and Ronaldo Souza just won't be there. It's a hardcore fans only event. Second, Bellator's viewers are Spike TV loyalists, and they always tend to tune in. Third, Bellator has stacked this card with some of their best: Featherweight champion Pat Curran, Cheick Kongo, Lavar Johnson, King Mo, and making his Bellator debut, TNA wrestling Bobby Lashley. That's a pretty decent cast of characters, and Lashley should bring a few extra eyeballs to the mix, at least those belonging to pro wrestling fans curious to see if Lashley can finally break out as a mixed martial artist. Another interesting angle: these events are being held just a short drive away from one another, both having been booked in Connecticut, USA. Dana White insisted that was a coincidence, but if you believe that, we have some land available in Florida... and we'd like to sell you a bridge in Brooklyn as well. So which event should you watch? Well, that all depends on whether or not you subscribe to Fight Pass, or want to plunk down $9.99 a month (cheaper if you go with a 6 or 12 month package) for the UFC's streaming service, or whether you're sticking with broadcast TV (if you're in an area without Fight Pass that happens to have both events on TV, well break out the DVR). To be fair, this is a great looking month for Fight Pass between Fight Night 50 and the Big Country vs. Hunt event, but Bellator is still offering a pretty decent free card. If you're an MMA fan, either way Friday should be a fun night. Now, lets take a look at the main card for Bellator 123, their debut show of the season, and throw in some predictions as well!
