1. Make Old Trafford A Fortress
During last year's group stages, Alex Ferguson's team drew 2 of the 3 matches played at Old Trafford. A 2-2 draw with Benfica and a 3-3 draw with Basel meant United dropped 4 points at home and if they had won one of these games, United would have progressed from the group stages.
Basel were well and truly a bogey side for United last season. With the Red Devils leading 2-0 at home at half time, the unthinkable happened and Basel scored 3 goals in 16 minutes to threaten a huge upset. United had their blushes spared by Ashley Young as he scored a last-minute header but still dropped two valuable points.
Manchester United's home form last season was sketchy in the Premier League too. Compared with Manchester City only dropping 2 points at the Etihad, United dropped 10 at Old Trafford.
