A game of two halves, Newcastle looked dead and buried at the interval after a tame 45 minutes against The Gunners saw the home side two goals behind with seemingly nowhere to turn for goals yesterday afternoon. A spirited display though in the second half saw the Toon strike early with a great team goal that John Carver called "Arsenal-esque" and a dominant, relentless attacking Newcastle display urged on by a vocal home support almost saw the Magpies register an unlikely point from the claws of defeat. In the end the result, rather than the scoreline was as expected but there was still plenty for Newcastle fans to be encouraged about ahead of the derby against Sunderland in a fortnight's time.
