5 Main Card Predictions For UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Saint Preux

The second of two UFC events this coming weekend sees a legend trying to turn things around.

Shogun Rua is a legend. Make no mistake about that. He has had wars in Pride. He has been UFC Light Heavyweight champion. He took part in a fight against Dan Henderson in 2011 that many feel is up there as the greatest UFC fight of all time, if not the greatest MMA fight of all time. However, his career has been in something of a tailspin since losing his title to Jon Jones in March of 2011. Jones made the most of a last minute title shot, shocked the world, took Shogun's belt, and went on to become the most dominant champion in UFC history. Shogun, meanwhile, struggled to get back on track. He beat Forrest Griffin later in the year, then lost the aforementioned bout with Dan Henderson. He picked up a win over Brandon Vera in 2012, then dropped two straight, to Alexander Gustafsson and Chael Sonnen. He bounced back with a win against James Te Huna only to fall again in a second bout with Henderson. It's easy to peg Shogun as an over-the-hill former star, but at age 32, he's still in his athletic prime, or would be, had years of wear and tear and multiple wars in the cage not taken their toll on his body. Can Shogun bounce back? That's one of two important questions to be answered at UFC Fight Night 56. The other, while we're at it, is who will be the next challenger for Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson's flyweight title. On one side, you have Ian "Uncle Creepy" McCall, arguably the most popular flyweight fighter, but one who has faced a number of setbacks during his UFC career thus far. On the other, you have John Lineker, a flyweight who has four TKOs in the UFC, almost unheard of - but who has also missed weight several times. There are three other fights on the main card as well - so lets take a look at five main card predictions from UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. St. Preux.
