Premier League: 5 Managers Who'll Be Gone By Christmas

Alan Pardew 2 Being a Premier League manager is by no means a safe occupation in this day and age. The top three clubs in the Premier League have new managers following the departure of Rafa Benitez at Chelsea, sacking of Roberto Mancini at Manchester City and retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson at United. And, with the stepping down of the latter goes a dying breed of manager, the like of which we will probably never see again. One whom is afforded time, patience and understanding over the period of a quarter century. Today, the so-called "managerial merry-go-round" spins faster than ever, casting aside those who cannot hold on anymore. In a report published in June, the League Managers Association (LMA) revealed that, taking into account both sackings and resignations, there were 63 changes of manager across the top four divisions in England last year. That's the joint-highest number of managerial casualties since records began in 1994. And we're almost guaranteed more of the same this season as the pressure to deliver silverware or, in some cases, Premier League survival, mounts to record highs. A total of 43 managers were sacked during the campaign last season, and we could be in for a fresh round of coaching casualties come Christmas.
