5 Reasons Why Roberto Martinez Will Be The Next Arsenal Manager

It is now over a year since Roberto Martinez, then in charge of Wigan Athletic, rejected the top job at Liverpool because he felt it wasn't the right one for him. At the time, the Reds were in a period of transition and were looking for a younger manager to replace Kenny Dalglish, with Martinez and Brendan Rodgers on the shortlist. Rodgers took on the role after Martinez rejected it, leaving the Spaniard to remain for a further season at the DW Stadium. It later transpired that Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has persuaded Martinez to stay with the relegation strugglers rather than move to a team challenging for the top four. The following season the Latics were relegated and Martinez accepted the offer to become Everton boss. The fact that Martinez was given a bigger job despite not being able to keep his previous side in the Premier League was a real indicator of how well he had done during his time at Wigan. English clubs have quite a tradition of promoting younger managers from smaller clubs and giving them the chance at sides challenging further up the table, with David Moyes being a classic example. Martinez has been showing his class as a manager since arriving at Everton, and has won plaudits from all sections of English football for his bold plan of action since arriving at Goodison Park. The Catalunya born coach has kept the good things that were at Everton, but has still brought in a raft of changes, leading some to believe that in time he could end up managing at the very top level. So how about Arsenal? Arsene Wenger will not be around forever, and the club will in the next few years at the very least have to start looking for people to replace the Frenchman, and there are few better alternatives in the game at the moment than Martinez. So with that in mind, here are five reasons why Martinez is the perfect man to replace Wenger when the time comes.
