5 Reasons Steve Bruce Will Fail At Aston Villa

3. Aston Villa Didn’t Spend Wisely In The Summer

Aston Villa’s summer transfer activity was strange to say the least. It almost seemed like they were toying with the Financial Fair Play regulations with the £50m spend. Other teams in the past have certainly been hit with problems with less obvious transfer spending so problems are surely coming Villa way. However, that is something for another day – now it’s all about what kind of impact those players can make this season.

Well, the early signs this season aren’t exactly good and others have said that the club look well short of best teams in the league despite that spending. For me, there have been out to impress with some of their signings – especially with the two lads up front. Clearly, they have made some decent signings in other areas as well. However, maybe the balance of the team and how it would work together hasn’t been taken into account as much as it should have been.

Getting rid of the negativity from last season is also a problem and that doesn’t seem to have happened yet. I’d also say that there is a lot of pressure being put onto certain players without necessarily having the experience to make that kind of impact. An obvious example here is the £5m spent on midfielder Aaron Tshibola; he is a good player but still very young and inexperienced to make a big impact this season.
