5 Reasons Why Conor McGregor Receiving A UFC Title Shot Makes Sense

McGregor’s popularity and striking excellence can’t be denied.

It has been a disappointing year so far for the UFC. Injuries have derailed several of their pay-per-view main events and negativity has surrounded the company. Several legends have failed drug tests, which has led to their careers being tarnished to an extent. Champions such as Cain Velasquez and Anthony Pettis have yet to defend their title this year. The talk of over saturation has become a common topic for MMA fans to discuss. The issues continue to amount, while new stars aren€™t emerging as quickly as the UFC would like. That implies too many younger fighters except for one brash Irishman. Conor McGregor has been considered to be a revelation for the UFC as a whole. A once stagnant featherweight division lacked personality and casual fan€™s interest has now been electrified. McGregor is on a four fight-winning streak, which includes a dominant knockout victory over highly rated Dustin Poirier. The talk of him receiving a title shot has been discussed amongst fans and even UFC brass. There seems to be a split on whether or not he should receive a title shot. Some fans feel that it€™s smart to strike when the iron is hot. There are others that feel he needs to be tested against a high level wrestler to truly prove that he€™s a proper number one contender. I€™d normally favor towards a fighter going through certain tasks to prove he€™s a worthy contender. This is a different situation though, as McGregor€™s popularity and striking excellence can€™t be denied. Here are five reasons why it€™s logical to give McGregor the next title shot.
