5 Ways Newcastle United Could Avoid Relegation

wee club in the North East" Sir Alex Ferguson described it as and one that this time they may not be so quick to bounce back from. Mike Ashley's decision to hand Alan Pardew a lengthy contract is now starting to look foolish as Newcastle's downward spiral continues under his reign and the financial problems that the Magpies owner would have should he now decide to get rid of the man he was certain would bring success to the club. Pardew needs to stop the rot, and fast. Here are 5 of my suggestions to help him do this:

1. Keep Coloccini

Fabricio Coloccini CC Fabricio Coloccini's recent revelation that he wants to return to his native Argentina for personal reasons could hardly have come at a worse time for Newcastle. Their club captain is reportedly interesting San Lorenzo and wants out as soon as possible after struggling with recent weeks with life on Tyneside. Although Coloccini's form has recently dipped alongside many of his team mates, it is imperative that Newcastle hold on to the man who was a rock at the heart of their defence last season and earned a spot in the PFA Team of the Year. Pardew is planning talks with "Colo" next week and San Lorenzo want to know if he will join his father, Osvaldo, at the club by Monday. Newcastle are in a strong position as they are paying him much more than San Lorenzo would and San Lorenzo could only afford to recruit the central defender if Newcastle agree to let him go for nothing, which seems unlikely.
