9 Reasons Why Charlie Austin Should Sign For Newcastle

The famous No 9 shirt is just one reason...

Charlie Austin is the name on everyone's lips right now. The Queens Park Rangers forward is certain to leave Loftus Road this summer following the west London club's relegation - with the likes of Newcastle United, Chelsea, Southampton, West Ham United and Manchester United reportedly among the sides chasing his signature. Called into Roy Hodgson's England squad at the end of the 2014-15 campaign, Austin may not have made his Three Lions debut quite yet but it will inevitably come in the next few months. Despite playing for a side who finished bottom of the Premier League last season, Austin was the top flight's second-highest scoring Englishman after rattling in 18 goals for QPR. Austin's former Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has already gone on record to encourage the forward to join Newcastle. Writing on Kicca, Redknapp said:
"A move to Newcastle would be the best one for Charlie Austin. "He's rumoured to be on Chelsea's radar as well but - no disrespect to him - he won't make their staring line-up. They only play one up front and he's not going to replace Diego Costa. "He's 25 and he's scored some good goals and I think Newcastle would be a good move for him and a good challenge. "He's a good lad and knows Steve McClaren from when Steve was at QPR and I reckon he'll do well at Newcastle."
QPR are holding out for in excess of £15 million for Austin this summer as they look to cash in on one of English football's most-sought-after talents, so will Newcastle be willing to part with such significant funds in order for McClaren to be reunited with the forward? And, if they do, will Austin even choose to move to St James' Park? Well, here are nine reasons why Charlie Austin should choose to sign for Newcastle United this summer.
