AFL: 7 Most Memorable Fights Of All Time

7. Wayne Carey vs Glenn Archer & Anthony Stevens - Round 6, 2003

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjGytZomXe8 While most of the list is going to be examples of fierce rivals on the battle field, this example has a bit more spice and a personal twist to it, between Carey and his former team mates. Firstly, it's important to note how integral Carey was to the structure of the North Melbourne Football Club in the 90's, he was one of the most dominant forwards in the game, beloved by his supporters. Secondly, the circumstances of Carey's departure from the North Melbourne football club, and the end of his friendship with Stevens and Archer was dramatic. While any serious football fan can recount the 2002 Wayne Carey saga, for those less acquainted with the story, Carey, the captain of the club was at a party at team mate Glenn Archer's house, went in to the bathroom, not long after was followed by the wife of his vice captain. The fallout of the event forced Carey to walk away from the club, escaping to Las Vegas, taking a 12 month hiatus from football. However, the next year Carey looked to revitalize his career with the Adelaide Crows in 2003. In round 6, Carey faced off not just against his old side, but also against former team mates Stevens and Archer. The three players frequently squared off during the game with little fights between Carey and his former friends. Carey, however, got the last laugh as the Crows won the game by 54 points with Carey kicking 4 goals for the Crows.
