Arsenal: 10 Things Arsene Wenger Must Achieve Before 2017

It's time to build on last season's FA Cup win and bow out in style...

In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity, and Wenger snapped at the opportunity during the dramatic scenes of the World Cup to sign Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, in the hope of recapturing the glory years in what seems like his last spell at the club. Arsene Wenger celebrated his new three-year contract by showing off his silky skills playing beach football with the locals in Brazil, and he had good reason to be cheerful. After nine years of frustration and several morale-sapping near misses Wenger finally wiped the dust from Arsenal€™s trophy cabinet and added a shiny new trophy to end the long and audibly grumpy wait for silverware. One of the dullest moments for a fan are the weeks before the season, knowing your club did not make that marquee signing or a signing a new prospect, and Arsenal fans know this more than most from recent years. Wenger has restored faith with the fans by signing Sanchez and the impending signing of Mathieu Debuchy, along with rumours linking Loic Remy and Sami Khedira to follow Sanchez, could make Arsenal genuine prospects again next year. By selling Ozil and Sanchez respectively, it allowed the Spanish giants Madrid and Barcelona to spend £150m on their main targets: Bale and Suarez. Yes, that sounds like needless Inception, but we will see the long-game play out next year. In the meantime, as Wenger heads into what could well be his last Arsenal contract, we're looking at the things Arsene MUST achieve before he hangs up his jacket and stops fumbling with the zip for the last time...
