Arsenal Transfer News: Borussia Dortmund Target Gunners Star Lukas Podolski

The Sun. The Gunners are now facing a battle to keep the striker, who scored after just nine seconds in Germany's 4-2 win over Ecuador last week. The German international had previously fallen out of favour under Arsene Wenger this season but fought his way back into contention toward the end of the campaign and scored 16 goals. And that has captured the attention of Dortmund, who are consigned to losing star man Robert Lewandowski this summer. Jurgen Klopp's side have money to spend after selling Mario Gotze to rivals Bayern Munich in a £31.5 million deal, and will be seeking reinforcements as they go back in pursuit of the Bundesliga crown next season. Podolski is understood to be settled in North London since moving from Cologne, but a big offer could tempt Arsenal€™s resolve despite the fact the player arrived at the Emirates for £11 million just last year. However, Arsene Wenger has more obligation to buy rather than sell this summer and has a reported £70 million transfer fund to spend on new players as the Gunners prepare to enter an eighth successive season without silverware.
