Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Lining Up Michu Bid As Suarez Hopes Fade

Mirror. The 26-year-old looks set to stay at Anfield after months of flirting with the Gunners. And there have now been internal discussions at Emirates Stadium about the club pursuing different targets, such as Swansea City's Michu. The North Londoners are also looking into the possibility of signing Manchester City's Edin Dzeko who has been on manager Arsene Wenger's radar in the past, while the Frenchman still retains an interest. Arsenal are desperate for a new striker this summer and have missed out on a series of targets in that area already, with David Villa, Gonzalo Higuain and Stevan Jovetic all going elsewhere. And a move for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney also seems unlikely at this stage. The Gunners have also been frustrated in their attempts to sign Suarez and have failed with two bids for the Uruguayan, with their most recent offer being £1 over £40 million. Suarez said earlier today that he could stay at Anfield for the €œaffection of the people€ which could lead Arsenal to make their interest in Michu and Dzeko more serious in the coming weeks.
