Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Plotting Shock Iker Casillas Bid?

London Evening Standard. Sources close to the 32-year-old suggest he will quit Madrid if he continues to remain behind Diego Lopez in the pecking order under new manager Carlo Ancelotti. Casillas looked far from impressed as he was left out in the cold during his side's 1-0 win against Granada at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes last night. The Spain star was also omitted from the Real starting XI that won 2-1 against Real Betis in the opening round of La Liga fixtures. Arsenal manager Arsene Wemger has around £70 million to spend before next Tuesday's transfer deadline day and has been looking for a new goalkeeper for much of the summer to provide competition to Wojciech Szczesny. Casillas is one of the most decorated goalkeepers in world football having won two European Championships and a World Cup in addition to winning 5 La Liga titles with Real. The Gunners are also interested in his teammate Karim Benzema, however, the French striker's agent said earlier this week that the player was in talks over a new three-year-deal with Madrid.
